It was a bad design descision.So I've been looking around and Experimenting in my own time with Tigrans to see what their best class synergies are. Remove pounce from the manticores please. But pounce closes that window frame and manticores with pounce are almost as bad as manticores with gold medal due to the fact that the ranged units do not get a chance to fire a volley before the manticores are on top of them, in defensive mode. I get that you are supposed to shut the warlord down entirely before he reaches his sixth and seventh level spells. I feel that pounce on manticores is exceptionally imbalanced, and that this makes it so that tigran warlords on med or large maps are UNBEATABLE. Pounce makes the traditional pikemen counter obsolete. This forces the pikemen to go on the agressive against tigran manticores on the defensive, while in every other situation 3 or so pikemen can walk up to a manticore and surround it, and sit there on defensive forcing the manticore out of defensive eventually to either move or attack which is when the pikemen can strike. The manticore pounces, the pikemen take 50% dmg and the manticore is in defensive so the pikemen really have no choice but to surround the manticore and go on defensive if they want to have damage parity. Oh and pikemen stacks are worthless against pouncing manticores.

Because that is usually the difference in damage that a manticore without pounce takes on its approach to a manticore with pounce. Not that I have an issue with pounce in general, cheetas are very cool, but with pounce on a manticore you might as well have given the manticore 50hp. ♥♥♥♥ that.Īnyways manticores in general become imbalanced towards endgame, but tigran manticores are imbalanced as soon as they are researched! The pounce is a tactical tool to put a unit into melee range and switch the defender/attacker status. On that note how is a flying unit supposed to pounce, pounce implies a leap. Now, they just fly up to the walls and pounce. It used to be that pikemen stacks could be spammed before the warlord hit gold, and manticores could be hit with a variety of movement slowing spells. OK so if flying wasnt bad enough, tigran manticores get pounce.
